Default De-cat or sports cat?

Any difference between a sports cat and de-cat power/performance wise?

De-cat in my opinion. Have had both on mine and the de-cat definitely made the biggest difference to performance.

Im completly de-catted, makes for a slightly louder noise too... Is it me or is the spool noise more noticable too?

~As Above for MOT, be prepared or fail.

Do you guys re-fit your own cats or do you get it done at the place that tests your car beforehand?

just get very friendiy with mot station . then when the time comes for mot, drive in he'll put probe up your exhaust and test emmissions, job done simples... hope this explains it all.. cheers rob day

PS for whats its worth, my MOT station is very strict, which is what I want as I occasionaly have my wife in the car, but he is very understanding too

as above and Rob having had both in the past full decat best!! better spool and you can hear it more also, i would agree a little louder

i just refit the downpipe come mot time not too much hassle!! an hour or two a year for on and back off

as for friendly mot stations these are very rare these days as VOSA is all over them best to do it right

What worries me is how will re-fitting the CAT affect the car when you're driving to the MOT station? Would it be okay at slow sensible speeds?

As you are making the exhaust more restrictive by fitting the sports cat (if your mapped on decat) then I would take it easy, keep off boost and make sure the MOT station know what they are MOT'ing. If they are not experienced with Subarus then stay clear or do your homework and educate them... no more knackered diffs!!!!!!
