Default TY752VB4AA

Hi, i have a 1994 wrx, with a TY752VB3AA just wondered if a TY752VB4AA would be ok to take 380bhp. Hoping for a reply as all the posts i have put up i haven't had one reply.

The engine wont take that power and the gearbox has no chance!

The gearbox will almost definitely break.

about 310 bhp as this is weaker than the ty754. But even then its just a matter of time until it breaks.

And ive seen standard 215bhp cars strip the gears on these too!

The only safe way is 6 speed or go for a PPG (though its not as strong as a 6 speed) or try scooby clinic as they do a hardened gearset/box but these are not cheap, your looking at 3.5+k, a 6 speed is 2.5 inc the rear diff.

The ratios in the B4AA are shorter than WRX of the same year, although not as short as the RA boxes. Mine was 4k+ at 80mph. With 380bhp, and assuming 1.4bar+, you wont have enough gearing to last a week !

The later 5 speeds (even the 2.5 wrx's) are not going to take silly ammounts of torque, it will just shred the cogs

What Tony says is right, if you are going for power, and ESPECIALLY if you intend to have more torque, budget for a 6-speed box.

The 5-speeds WILL break if you put a lot of torque through them, it's a matter of when, not if.
