Can a 01 WRX be used as a daily driver
Good evening all
sorry for such a noob question, but ive been away from scoob ownership for a number of years but im considering getting back into one. ive seen a 01 bug wrx with PPP for sale that has taken my eye but it would need to be used as a daily driver back and fore to work etc and i was wondering what sort of millage to a tank of fuel people seem to get out of these ( guessing the rising fuels prices aint helping). my previous two were both classics.
really want to get back into an impreza but if its a non flyer fuel wise may have shelve the plans for a while
Thanks for any opinions
Ian

Go and Buy it
Bug WRX's are cheap as chips and might miss the car tax hike depending on year. Someone at work was looking at a passat blue motion thing at 70 odd MPG (on a good day) but cost multiple thousands to buy !!

I do 100 miles a day in mine - if you take it easy and chill, you can get -/+30ish. I could get something more economical but then I'd need to spend more money and when I did the maths, what I lose in petrol costs, I more than make up for in lower depreciation and lack of finance payments etc. Plus I get to drive a car I love rather than pottering around in some diesel shed that's lacking in any passion or charisma.

Depends on your mileage to a certain extent. The cars themselves are reliable and last it is whether you can live with the MPG with fuel going up by another 23p a gallon shortly.
Servicing is every 9K(from memory), best buy one with a recent full service as this can be pricey, people often sell when one is due so it is a bargaining point also. Bare in mind the servise are dependant on age as much as mileage as timing belts and fluids perish

I get about 230 mls per 50 litres on my modded 300bhp 01 WRX around town, quite a bit more at a steady 70 mph. Must admot doesn't worry me, although I only do about 8000 mls per annum.
