Wear and tear on RE070 tyres
I am just about to pick up my first Subaru which still has the original Potenza RE070 tyres on it with the original wheel weights. The car is a 55 plate Wrx Sti so should I think about replacing them or could I still get a lot of driving out of them?
They seem to be pretty low on tred and have 14k miles on them. Should I be able to get alot more mileage out of them if I drive sensibly? I dont want to have to buy brand new tyres so soon but would 14,000 miles on 5 year old tyres be enough for a change?
Thanks

When i picked up my STI (55) it had 17K miles and was on the original RE070's which were legal just but the wear on the inside edges was not helping the ride of the car, i changed to T1R's after a few months and found the car a lot more enjoyable to drive. I have now done 12K miles on the T1R's and they are still in very good condition.
I would like to try a fresh set of RE070's in the future.
Are you buying from a dealer? have you tried to get them to put new tires on or adjust the price to sweeten the deal?

I cant tell that they are original but the car has done about 13.500 miles and it would seem a little coincidental if its a second or third set of tyres which are identical to the originals that came on it from new.
I am worried that the cars been tracked if the tyres need replacing with a car with only 13.500 miles on the clock. But I have also heard that the RE070's average about 15k miles.
Am I wrong?
