Default Space Saver - Stupid Question

About to put 18" wheels on my car, presumably the space saver wheel is still OK to use as a spare as I assume it's not a 17" anyway?

Sure it is - your 18" wheels, if fitted with the correctly sized tyres will more or less have the same overall rolling radius as the previous wheels and tyres (which you have to do to maintain speedometer accuracy).

Just take it easy when using a space saver tyre, and don't drive above 50mph when using it. Its an emergency tyre so only intended to get you home or to the nearest garage: I've got a space saver tyre in the workshop when some numpty drove down the motorway with one at 70-80mph.....not much left of the tyre - he completely destroyed it!

They are very thin, so I'd imagine it affects the steering. Thats my guess, but they normally do say not to put them on the front.

A spacesaver is OK as above, UNLESS you have fitted bigger brakes. If you have, check it before it's too late.

I now carry a full-size spare.

Do they not go over rear Brembo's then?
If they don't, then in that case, I might aswell ditch mine.

Did you find out the hard way?

Will they fit over the 290mm rear Subaru two pots?

i know on my old Civic Ep3 the space saver wouldnt fit over the fronts
it said in the manual to move the rear to the front and stick the space saver on the rear instead
much fun if you have a puncture and its raining im sure!

not sure on the scoob, dont remeber seeing anything in the manual

No, I tried mine when I changed from the old sliding one-pot caliper to STi Brembos. No chance of it fitting, but it WAS a spacesaver for the 16" wheels I used to have. I now run 17" WRX wheels.
