Its all depends what you want from the box. The JDM is a faster box up the gears. But the Uk box is better on the motorway.

Unless you have a lot of money in your car, I would consider selling up and buying an STI problem solved....

Lets say Blob WRX - £4500 plus a 6 speed with all the required parts and fitting £6500....

A 2005 JDM STI in awesome condition has just sold on here for less that 7k

Ok I know insurance on an STI is a little more expensive, but what you get from the car is much better

You cant get a MY05 Ver9 JDM Sti for less than approx £10k, but a Version 8 JDM Sti which is almost the same thing might be had for £7k. Definitely makes sense, its one of the reasons I sold my Ver6 Type R and bought Ver9 JDM Sti.

If i could could do it all again, i would buy an Sti, not a WRX. I have spent thousands getting my WRX up to the Sti spec.

The OP has got a Blobeye, so im guessing MY03 - MY05 would range from £4'000 to £5'500 for a basic model, yet to fit a 6 Speed would need the whole kit, flywheel, clutch and fitting to which im hazarding a guess at £2'000..... this is now STI territory.

Rob

PS - for what its worth I sold my last car as I was looking for more power and realised that the WRX was going to suck more blood (i mean money) from me and I couldnt stand it, especially when it would come to resale because at the end of the day it was still a WRX.

True. Its not worth it in most circumstances buying 6 speed JDM boxes; DDCD; semi closed newage blocks; AVCS heads; Newage STi topmount; Brembo brakes etc etc when it would be far cheaper to just go & buy a JDM Ver7/8 Blob Sti instead as you say.
