Default are induction kits maf sensor killers???

As titles says ive not long brought my car and it already had an induction kit on it a few of u might know the problems i had. It had an oil leak so the garage stripped the engine to find the leak when the car was returned to me it had a missfire which turned out to be a faulty maf sensor. Now the garage have told me its because the car has an induction kit that the maf sensor failed and that it was just coincedence that it went when they had it i just wanna know is this true can induction kits kill maf sensors?? as they did tell me they jet washed the engine so im guessing it was the water that done it can anyone shed any light on it??

Induction kit, quite likely, some go quicker thaqn others, depends on MY.

The oil on some filters contaminates the MAF wire, the extra vibration can kill it, and an IK without map tweak is not a good idea

I thought the 'Newage' mafs were more robust?

I would get it out and clean it before replacing it mate

It just could of been old age that made your MAF fail. Mine went at christmas and im running a standard airbox with a dry filter.

Most cone filters are oiled and most can be cleaned and re-oiled. It could be that the preavous owner was a tad heavy handed when he re-oiled it which made your maf fail.

What make of induction kit have you got fitted?

I believe that the later facelifted classics had delicate Mafs and were more prone to falure after fitting Caik,s. Steve

I would say are robust as above guys suggest, this depends on MY...
But fitting without proper tweaking/mapping is worthless and at some point will cause more problems as usual, due this i would recommend fitting induction kit yes,but get ECU tweak/remapped

i was told by carplanet that induction kit knackers the maf sensor due to the oil in the filter but mines a classic jdm so not sure abt newer scoobs.
