Default Error code P0031???

Hi all, I have an 02 wrx sti ppp uk...

whilst drivin the car the engine management light came on, so i took it into my local garage who read the code.... P0031 H02s bank 1 sen 1 heater circuit low...

they cleared the code ,, re-started the car, eng mangmnt lite went off but came back on, whilst the car was idlin...

so we tried again to read tha code, but it came up no codes logged, tried to reset it but light wouldnt go out.....

wot is the error code? can i just disconect the battery to clear it & if so, is there sum sort of procedure on how to relearn the ECU when the battery is reconnected..

regards

shaun...

Sounds as if your A/F sensor (in the manifold before the up pipe)is dead or dying.

Yes it will be OK to drive although your mpg will be worse.

One of the cheapest places is

although "possible" to obtain on fleabay. Can also try Camskill

For your silly money you are getting a pseudo wideband sensor, Subaru's are a bit picky when it comes to the sensor so it's best to fit an OEM one.

You get to it via the offside front wheel arch, there's a couple of threads on here with pics which show the replacement

You can drive it but your closed loop fuelling will be a bit erratic.

Just Subaru UK price, no different to one quoted below.
It used to be cheaper to import from the US than buy in the UK but things have now changed slightly.

Still dubious about some of those posted on fleabay.

One of the best for service.....

If you have access to Scoobymods then Peaty's write up for the Forester is exactly the same.
