Default Expensive day for the Scoob

Service
Rocker cover gasket leaking so replace gasket and hey may as well do the other one at the same time.
While you're down there let's do the spark plugs.
Oh and it is having the timing belt done too.

That is going to hurt the old wallet!!!

Well that's cheered me up!!!
Going in on Friday for full service & cam belt. Also I am getting warped-disk syndrome through the brake peddle so new disks on the cards.

NOOOOOOOOO!!!

I will give him the bank card & tell him not to say anything about price, pretend it didn't happen......ignorance is bliss.

Any other tips for softening the blow?

my 50k service with cambelt was £450 at main stealers.....
don,t use main dealer any more, rather have a subaru specialist to do it as it,s a bit cheaper and get 1 or 2 mods done whilst its in lol

Don't pay for standard replacement disks. You can get upgraded aftermarket disks cheaper.

My Scoob is still sat in AWD waiting on some gearbox bushes that won't be in the UK until the 28th. It's been off the road since the 17th. So far it's had;

Gearbox removed stripped and tolerances checked
All gearbox linkage parts checked and replaced as needed
New clutch
New front discs from Ian Godney and Bluestuff pads
Braided hoses

The Brembos are also off to Ian to see if he can refurbish them both. There's a question mark over one so it might be £450 for a new 'un.........

Aside from the timing belt most semi-skilled DIY car owners should be able to do the service, gaskets, spark plugs themselves.
