Weekend car choice Impreza Type R or Bike Engine MK Indy R1
Not sure why my previous thread got deleted, is it caus I mentioned my old car a Evo IX!!
Having sold the aforementioned Evo, Im on the look out for a weekend toy, gonna be using a Merc diesel for work/nursery runs etc but want something for weekend blasts/track fun.
I had a great classic 315bhp Impreza for 5 years prior to the Evo and loved it, now Ive got a choice whether to get a nice Type R or go down another route and get a bike powered MK Indy or similar.
Im guessing asking on a scooby forum the Type R may be the prefered choice. I know the bike cars need a engine rebuild every few k miles.
Any thoughts?

Put a deposit on a V-Limited last week, had a test drive but chose not to buy it. 7 hours travel wasted.
If the cars were more local I would test drive them, the MK Indy R1 was in Cleveland, about 8 hours travel time!

Hmm....both really different cars as you know. I've got a classic as a weekend toy, but the Mrs does frequently use it in the week too. I'm afraid if she did not have to use it, it would be a BEC for fun all the way! I built a 'blade powered Westie a few years back, and miss it all the time, the scoob is quick, but most bike engined cars are INSANE in comparison. I'll be having another in the near future, just biding my time.......

I've got a 2.0 zetec powered lotus-7 style car and a 05 sti.
The zetec is so much more fun to drive in the summer but you really are limited to when you can drive it, its got to be dry and no risk of rain.
If its a weekend car I'd go for the type R just so you can use it more often, I've only done 3000 miles in my zetec in 3 1/2 years owning it
