Default just got my a*se handed to me...

Driving round earlier in my 300bhp classic wrx saloon, I came accross a classic wagon. I assumed, like with most other cars that with a blip of the throttle in 2nd i'd pull away easily - this was not the case.

What happened next was not what i expected at all - I was at full throttle in 2nd and this wagon absolutely shot past me with ease. to say I was shocked was an understatement. I could hear what I thought was a mixture of turbo chatter and the rally style 'tweeting' dump valve coming from his car. I'd be really interested to find out what he had under there!

I dont often come accross other scoobies for some reason, but I was safe in the knowledge that they dont come 'much' faster than mine. Quite scary really.

Well that will teach you. 300bhp and you think you are the bees knees. Let that be a lesson for, don't be a dick.

Are you COMPLETELY sure that it wasn't a Honda Civic Type S Diesel? The torque figures and 30-60mph sprints are quite simply staggering.

The only thing 'staggering' about your car is the display of arthritis as you peel yourself out of it !

300hp in a scoob is no longer enough ... there are hot hatches with more FFS!

Just because its a wagon, dont mean its gonna be slow my friend

FUD, Bills Wagon is a UK classic wagon not a WRX import, which makes it even more of a sleeper

Given your size though mate id say you'd need about 1000bhp to keep up with them

To the OP,
How do you know you have 300BHP?
Don't forget the V5/6 Wagons came with 280 bhp more torque than a WRX but most where more from the factory.

Reminds me of an RS 2000 owner's comment, "Soobarus, daren't they all come with 400 bhp" as std.

The quiet ones are the ones to watch, eh ? Alcazar...

LOL

dunx

P.S. A really quick car is >600 bhp...

Never had it dynoed but it goes fast!

Cheers
I'd say c.260bhp (given the age of the car), and significantly less torque having gone for an exhaust bore diam greater than your turbo outlet without remap

+1 So many people are fooled into thinking that there running 300+bhp when there no where near,if you have 300+ you defo know about it lol,and if you have 350bhp in a classic then you have a very potent car which wouldn't surprise me if that's the sort of power what the wagon had that handed him his ***!!

Wow, quite strange how an innocent post simply making an observation as to how MUCH faster scoobies can go than I initially thought, has turned into 53WRX having a pop at me? Ah well, I won't bother next time.

Also, just a note - the car HAS been remapped.

Still unlikely to get 300 IMHO unless your unconcerned by charge temps and duty cycles. What has it got new ECU/Chip/ESL mappable chip ?

300bhp just isn't fast anymore in the scheme of things....I run 330 in my P1 and it is fast enough for me to enjoy when I find a nice open bit of road but 400bhp is where it seems to be at these days. Apart from the fact I want to keep my licence I would never try to drag imprezas or evo's on public roads as you just never know what's under the bonnet!!
