Default Hello from a new Scooby owner

Well... when I say new, I mean a 1997 registered Impreza Turbo AWD model.

Hello to one and all.

Just thought I should introduce myself. I've just picked the Scooby up from Wrexham and driven back home. I bought it from eBay. While the description was mostly accurate, there are a few niggles with the car (mostly electrical items) but I wasn't going up to Wrexham and coming back empty handed. I'll post details of the confirmed year/model tomorrow when the rain has stopped (hopefully) and it's light. I'll try not to provide a deluge of questions.

On that note, please could someone direct me to where I could obtain a softcopy of the Impreza Owner's Handbook?

Regards,
Lee.

I only picked it up a few hours ago. I was very restrained and drove very sedately for 140 miles, to see what sort of MPG I could get. Happy with nearly 36mpg. Then drove a bit more 'normally' and used the accelerator somewhat a couple of times, which returned 29mpg over 88 miles.

I love the handling and the exhaust note. If I was more tired it would lullaby me to sleep.

What did you get Claire?

Cheers all. While I'm trying to find an owner's manual: what is that switch on the top of the steering column please?

i got a 98 2000 shell with a v5/6 sti engine fitted, i love it!!

the switch on top of the steering column is for parking lights........the guy i got mine off didnt realise this and thought the idicator switch was broken as the lights wouldnt switch off - he was disconnecting the battery for the entire time he had the car lol

edit - my mpg is not that good lol 50 quid lasted me 140 miles and thats hardly bringing it on boost, however, most of my driving is round town so i blame it on the gear changes lol

Hehe at the 140 miles for £50. Good going! Are you going to buy some lighter shoes tomorrow?

Congrats on the car. Mine looks to be a little on the ropey side but the engine seems ok. Think I will book it in for a service anyway and wait for bad news.

lol i do have a heavy right foot, its taking a bit of getting used to turbo lag, im having to learn rather quick that i cant pull out in gaps that i did in my corsa lol

so long as the engines good thats the main part, i've had so many jokes off my friends like 'type subaru engine rattle into google' and 'chocolate pistons and gearboxes' lol im waiting for something major as i still cant quite believe that a guy would want to swap a scooby for a corsa lol (it wasnt standard but still)

Not sure I'm brave enough for that Tom. Besides, I might be sued if one of you splits your sides laughing.

I'll bite the bullet and get some pics on here tomorrow. Cheers all for the help and warm welcome.

Here she is, looking moody in the moonlight (ok security light):

Does this look normal / standard?

What about this? Radiator appears to come from Denmark and is about the size of Denmark.

[quote=claire6069;9864289]lol i do have a heavy right foot, its taking a bit of getting used to turbo lag, im having to learn rather quick that i cant pull out in gaps that i did in my corsa lol ]

get the revs up early and slip the clutch to keep them there and you can get in any gap better than a corsa......practice first though (careful now)
