yeah coating wears off. Had them on a peugeot 309 gti back in the day.
they end up looking like any other disc. Not sure if the coating was to help the pads bed in

Had BD discs and pads on my old crx, loved that little car.
was impressed, but when I came to get discs for my STI, they don't do them for my car.
kinda glad, cause I'm very happy with the discs I got, and only paid a quarter of the price them too.

I have had BD pads on my sti for 3 years now and there great, less dust than the standard Brembos. I did have to use the shims from the Brembos tho to stop the squealing and lots of copper grease, but they feel very solid in the cold and when driving hard

Will powder-coating be able to handle the heat?

Powder coating is too thick to put on the disc centre's , when it gets hot it will soften so your wheel nuts will come loose
This is why I spray our disc centres black , as the paint is a lot thinner , it doesn't cause any problems.

I can supply you our grooved discs with black centres and our kevlar fast road pads for only £99 plus delivery

Cheers Ian

I've had their discs (grooved, not drilled) and pads (predator) for a couple of years on the GT-B and very happy with them, although the pads are knackered now. The standard brakes on the turbo legacy's are not great, the BD set was a good improvement.

Powdercoat doesnt soften with heat of brakes, my brembo calipers are powdercoated and are fine as are the many sets ive powdercoated, and you are correct that the centers cant be powdercoated where the wheel meets them but the bit that can be seen which is not in contact with the wheel can be powdercoated.
