Default HELP to tow or not to tow

Hi all

Basically my head gasket has gone and the garage that I have booked in is 50 mile away from my house,I need some advise on what to do.

Shall I :

Option 1: take the risk to drive it down
Option 2: Put it on a recovery truck and pay for that service. (Dont know how much though)
Option 3: Drive as far as I can on the motorway until the engine heats up and then phone the recovery service on my insurance policy and get them to tow me to the garage for free. (A bit of waiting around)
Option 4: any other suggestions

The car has heated up on me to just under the red on the guage while on a trip to work as well as a oil leak and heaters on stand still kick out cold air. The trip to work is about 4 mile but the trip to the garage is 50 miles.

Push it to the end of you road, phone the breakdown cover before you start.......mine will take me to a garage of my choice within 20 miles for free, then a small amount per miles after that......

p.s./
I would not be driving the car at all, why take the chance??!!

Last time i checked a new head for an Impreza was slightly more than £30 for getting it to the garage mate.....

Call the recovery service & tell them you h/g has gone & you dare not risk your's or other road users safety by attempting to drive home.

yeah my insurance company's breakedown service will take me to a garage from home if the cars a non-starter so would ring them and find out how much they'd charge u if anything, defo dont drive it youll probably do way more damage than it will cost to tow it!
