Default Side lights staying on...

I've just been out to polish my car and noticed that the side lights were on. I've had a play about and I can't get them to turn off. I recently disconnected the battery (it had gone flat) and am wondering if that could be connected in some strange way?! Any ideas anyone?

Thanks! I've had Scoobs for over 6 years now, and I never knew about that! How silly do I feel... What's the point of that button, then?!

Parking at night on an unlit road. Took me a few months to figure it out too.

Its a bloody good button tho.

Is there any other car manufacturer that does it?

The dealer I bought my first Impreza off showed me the button.

I don't know if I would have ever noticed it or worked out its purpose.
