Default Idle problem.

Was driving home today sat in traffic for a good 30 mins stop start and my idle went up to anywhere between 1200 and 1500 and wouldnt drop back down. Got home and ticking over at 800 again but if you blip throttle keeps dropping down to about 300rpm. Any ideas?
Also it's terrible to drive when cold. Engine is lumpy and terrible pulses of power between 2500 and 3500rpm. Even when at operating temperature it sometimes hesitates between same revs. Any ideas if problem related?
I'm wondering if it's maf.
It's had new plugs and cleaned boost solenoid.
Thanks Andy

I know you can check maf by unplugging it just don't want to turn cel light on. I'll have a look at valve and clean it this weekend.
One thing I have noticed is it does the hesitation more when you turn left at a junction pulling away normally. Or sometimes if you pull away from traffic lights it's like you let clutch out too fast and it's like it stutters then goes okay.
I've had it plugged in and no faults showing up.
Going to have it remapped when it decides to stop breaking all time and taking my money for remap.

I've been out and had look around Iacv and it is making a noise like a vacuum leak is that normal. As soon as you rev it it stops.

Check where that leak is first.
Also the idle control valves do get sticky, mine did a while back but easily cleaned with wd40.
