Default MAPPING QUESTION..smaller turbo

right my brother had his scooby mapped by scoobyclinic few weeks back and now im looking to get mine set up but no mapped again as i cant have time off work for quite a while. its making 324hp on dyno ..[35bhp added for transmission loss] on a big turbo known as the t34 i have a bigger housing for top end and bigger front on the turbo. before on my smaller turbo it reached full boost by 3500rpm so effortlessly was quick in a light car.. but now it starts coming on boost at 4800rpm so i rev the crap out of it alot now. my mate has a t3 hybrid turbo which is the smaller turbo and would be qucker bottom end of the rev range so more practical so i might just go back to that smaller turbo.

question is since i changed the turbo to a bigger 1 i changed themanagment to omex 600 pro and thats what it got mapped on. now that im going to change the turbo on the weekend i suspect ill have to adjust the map to accomodate the fuel bottom end as the turbo will be boosting alot earlier.... so im asking a guy i know to adjust it a bit . . would that be fine? as the guy who mapped it wants alot of money and says he will have to remap it etc if i change the turbo.. but my mate siad he would adjust the map for me on the road and chuck a bit of extra fuel as its easier to run it rich and safer than run it lean... but im getting confused. i dont want to blow it up ..but i dont want to pay more to have it mapped when my mate says he could alter the map to accomodater it on the road......???? what do i do

please help

I don't know how a mapping question about a Scoob should be in SN General nevermind a mapping question about an S2......................

When changing the turbo, the fueling and ignition requirements radically alter mapping wise. Unless your friend has a set of det cans and a wideband lambda sensor to tune it with, then you probably are just going to bw guessing at the fueling and potentially causing more harm than good. My suggestion is pay the wonga and get it mapped properly.

As above better to pay a few hundred than a few thousand for a new engine.

although a smaller turbo will push out less air, it will also have a smaller exhaust housing which will make the map useless, chucking extra fuel in will just run rich, which will in turn lose you power. to much fuel can lead to bore wash aswell which destroys piston rings
