What a load of back-peddling sh!te !!

''low-priority road safety cameras in areas where no significant accidents have been recorded.”

Why are there cameras there in the first place then?

"with less reliance on enforcement and now regularly use other speed management measures such as speed indication devices"

or

"decommissioned camera sites will not be made public so the housings will continue to have a deterrent effect."

Whats it to be then? Make your mind up luv

Councillor Mike Maryon, Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for highways and road safety, said: “We now take a much more rounded view of road safety, with less reliance on enforcement and now regularly use other speed management measures such as speed indication devices and Community Speed Watch rather than cameras.
But hang on a minute, I thought speed/safety cameras WERE the enforcement idea?

Ninety eight per cent of accidents are as a result of human error. This is why a comprehensive programme which includes a greater emphasis on education and training can reap rewards.
Hang on again.....I thought 38% of accidents were caused by speeding?

Funny, isn't it, once they stop raking it in, the cameras go........but it was NEVERE about revenue, was it?

i have a love hate relationship with these yellow boxes, i belive they are a good thing except when i get a summons for doing 41mph, thing is the camera is 20yrds from my drive, so when i went to court isaid 'how the hell do you think i can be doing 41mph then think about it then move my foot to the brake and press it while looking in my mirror and then being slow enough to park on my drive with out skiding into my front room' the judge said the camera must have been faulty and threw the case out,

thing is my brakes are good enough to stop me from 65mph for me to park on the drive wasn't gonna tell them that though.......lol
