Hi Richard
ScoobyNet is wholy owned by a limited company, which is registered and fully comforms to the data protection act.
No matter what is allowed or legally acceptable, there is no way on earth that your personal details will be made available for commercial gain. In fact the only way I can conceive that your details would be turned over would be for legal reasons.
Just thought I should make that clear.
All the best

Hi All
A recent court case has set a precident that may mean a change in the circumstances under which your information will be kept private.
If a court decides that a user's details must be turned over in the interest of justice, we must do just that.
The case involved a slander case where the identity of an anonymous user was demanded so that legal procedings could be taken against him.
This is good news in some ways as it slighty limits the likelihood of scoobynet being taken to court for publishing the contents of an anonymous poster's message.
We have altered the disclaimer at the bottom of each page.

.....cheers for the info Si....just a quick query regarding the Data Protection Act....as scoobynet isnt a limited company(?) do the rules governing the holding of data and the supply to third parties still apply? I'm not insinuating that this would happen but what if a marketing company offered to purchase info regarding members ie their e-mail addresses?? If scoobynet was a company like, say SIDC, then this wouldnt be allowed....your views are appreciated.ps if you want to keep this off the board then mail me privately.....cheers
