Default engine warning light ...HELP

cars a my02 sti bug

just installed my gauges oil pressure, temp and boost (with adaptors not sandwich plate) also removed header tank and painted up and some new coolant pipes

everything seemed fined when i started my car up for a few mins yesterday, abit of smoke from under the bonnet due to quite abit of coolant loss , incar heaters seem to work fine and oil pressure seems to holding at around 6.5

checked the 2 sensors (cylinder 2 and behind alternator ) for any leaks and all seems fine

anyway come to take my car out this morning , still a bit of smoke from under the bonnet from when i removed header tank and hoses , got about a mile down the road and the engine light has come on the dash

drove back home straight away , lifted bonnet once smoke cleared a doubled checked everything and couldnt see any oil and coolant leaks

any advise please

also say if i found the fault for example a loose wire would the engine light go out or would it need resetting ???

i have called the aa as a friend said they carry fault readers , thought i would get my money back as paid for 4 years and never used them ...lol
