Plumbing in an extinguisher system
I work as an electrician/instrument technician so have the knowledge but just wondering how easy it is to plumb in an extinguisher system into a car, like this one for instance;

A few questions do you clip the pipework to the roll cage ?
just need some info please .

Sufficient for what? I ask because extinguishers arent usually intended for the purpose that people expect. Before fitting a plumbed-in system Id fit an electrical cut-out, whichll probably provide a far greater benefit.

Many people fit plumbed-in extinguishers to road cars thinking that theyre intended to save the car, but they arent: theyre intended to save you. I read about one soft lad (who knew everything) who fitted one foam nozzle directed onto his fuse box!
AFFF hand-helds are also intended to save the driver; hence their fitting requirements. To save a car Id clamp (using plumbed-in chubby bottle mounts) a 4kg-6kg ABC powder extinguisher in the boot, along with a pair of welding gauntlets. Id also extend the hose, so that you can get under a sill/wheelarch with the bottle still upright.
If youre being scrutineered then youll need the cockpit nozzles; but if not then Im not sure that Id bother. AFFF isnt particularly nice stuff and Id sooner empty both chambers under the bonnet, perhaps using four nozzles, to increase your chance of extinguishing a fire completely; as opposed to simply retarding it. If youre stuck and you need an extinguisher discharged into the footwell, then youll have at least one hand-held within easy reach...
