Default SPORTS CATS QUESTIONS ??

I`m after a sports cat (was gona decat but knowing my look id be pulled by vosa or police when they do there road side tests) then I was going to buy a secondhand prodrive one but having not found one for the right price and not knowing what life is left in a secondhand one I thought about buying one of these off ebay what are ppls thoughts ? PPTUNING OR COBRA ??

Also whats the difference between 100 and 200 cel cats ?

Anyone actually used either brand ? Ive heard of cobra but not pp tuning.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUBARU-IMPREZA...51601108614699

or this one but not heard of this company

From another post Ive popped on here someone has told me that the 200 cel is a lil more restrictive meaning it passes MOT easier than the 100.

Hey,

No road side tests for emissions as far as i know, and since its the down pipe they cant see whether your sports cated or decated with taking the car to pieces....

A pal of mine with a STI was stopped not so long ago and they confiscated his car because it failed the road emissions test. His was decatted granted but they can tell if your car is catted or not with a emission test.

Found this online -

VOSA’s examiners will use a range of equipment according to the nature of the checks being carried out:

roller brake testers and heat sensors – for checking brake performance
Smoke Meters and Exhaust Gas Analysers – for exhaust emissions
Opacity Meters – for checking the level of tint in window glass
Limiter Tester – for checking the set speed of Speed Limiters

I bought a 2nd hand sports cat off a wr1 and it sailed through the mot. The later sports cats also look a bit better quality than the early prodrive ones.

Some traffic police carry emissions testing equipment and VOSA do roadside checks and will test emissions. If they think you have intentionally decatted your car they can take your car off the road. Sposed to be clamping down on it more in future as well.
I used to run a decat and my last car (for nearly 2 years) and never had a problem though. Only once did a see VOSA doing checks near me, and so i avoided that road for the whole week lol.

the later 2005 prodrive ones are superb quality, my wrx passed 2 mot's with one fitted no issues and no special warming up, they do turn up for sale I just sold mine as gone jdm now and it don't fit, although it was that good I looked into getting the bellmouth changed to suit twinscroll but decided against it in the end. You will get a used one from £150-£200, I would defo go down that route again if I had another uk car.

I'm still tempted with a 200 cell like the cobra. Been in contact with them today after this thread started and their system looks really good. £225 for new 200 cel sports cat downpipe in 2.5 or 3" is tops.
