Default First true test of my winter tyres

After the car being undriveable last year on summer rubber I fitted a set of Nokian WRG2s this year. They got their first true test today as we got stuck in a long tailback up a steep hill (about 15% at its steepest) and they were fantastic. Everyone else was slipping, sliding and crabbing across the road, but we had no problems even in start/stop traffic. I didn't even need to use second gear to pull off, they kept traction in first gear even on the steepest sections.

Sounds like you've had a better day than most. I might have to check these out in the summer, no point in fitting now and most places have nil stock apparently?

The tread pattern of the WR G2 is very similar to that of the Quatrac and the Nokian tyre gets good reviews on other sites and they seem to indicate that it is all weather....not too expensive either on Mytyres (cant seem to find it any cheaper elsewhere)

I've had the nokian WRG2s for two years now, this is my 3rd winter with them and they have been superb. I have been up italian mountains, alps and up on dartmoor in up to 6" of snow and haven't got stuck once. Towed 3 cars and a camper van up a short steep hill from a snowy carpark yesterday. They are also much better than Eagle F1s or vredestein sessantas at stopping on wet roads in the coler months. I wouldn't recommened leaving them on in the summer but from oct>march they are a supberb choice and great value for money if you can get them before prices inflate with demand.

I've had similar experiences with my Dunlop Winter Sports...... truly phenomenal in this weather and probably one of the best mods I've made to the car in a long time.
