Question Bembro Brakes

Morning all,

Currently got standard brakes on my impreza and wanted to see if I could change them to nice red or pink bembro ones?

Anyone know how I would go about doing this, where I could go to have it done and price to convert?

Thanks

Brembo brakes are not cheap but a few years back half a dozen of us were picking up a brand new set each for £600.

That included 4 discs, 4 calipers and a full set of standard Brembo pads.

I didnt know who the seller was though - somebody Lancashire way.

Maybe someone on here can point you that direction.

I've seen sellers of second hand front Brembo calipers alone asking £500 though

Good luck

New ones came off cars that were being built into rally cars , You won't get deals like that anymore as not as many cars are being built now , and the ones that are , you can only use the front brakes as the Hatch rear set up is different and won't fit any other models like the gold ones will

That's right Ian, if I remember correctly I think I was told that the brakes came off STI imports that were converted into rally cars and were required to fit smaller brakes as the had to fit smaller wheels to adhere to the citeria of the group N.

Does my memory serve me correctly?

The rears wouldnt fit straight onto the car tho and needed a bracket manufactured to allow them to fit. Or was that just on classics?

It was a few years ago now so can't remember

Hi

The rules for rally cars used to be that you have to use standard factory fitted discs and calipers , but they changed then and homologated AP calipers and discs , they did run smaller discs for gravel spec cars as they run 15" wheels , so would fit a disc around 300mm , on the tarmac spec cars , they run 17" wheels so were homologated to fit 355mm discs with AP 6 pot calipers.

The rear gold 2 pot Brembo calipers will fit straight onto the Type R classics that had the subaru 2 pot calipers as standard , but on all other classics they need the moutning bracket kit and thicker handbrake shoes we do.

To fit the gold rear brembo 2 pot calipers on a 2001 onwards WRX , the discs and calipers fit straight on without the need for a bracket kit , but you still need the thicker handbrake shoes.

The black brembo 2 pot calipers that are fitted to the hatch STi wont fit as the bolt spacings are different to the Gold 2 pot calipers , you cannot fit the Black 2 pot calipers and rear discs from the Hatch STi to any other Impreza , loads got stung buying the complete kits from rally car build , being told be the people selling them that they would fit , so the 'cheap' brembo front and rear kits ended up expensive as you could only fit the fronts.

I can machine the rear brembo 2 pot black calipers to fit onto a classic model , but you can only fit the 290mm rear discs off a 2001 onwards WRX , they will not fit with the 316mm discs.

I think that covers it

Cheers Ian
