I run a 5w40 fully synth oil, its more than adiquate for this car
Factory oil will be a 10w40 semi synthetic (shell helix).

It will do the job but your still better off with a 5w40 fully synthetic
If you dont want to spend too much but still have a decent oil in there>>>>

the 5 is the cold weight, 40 is the hot weight, its suitable for subaru's (they even have it on their chart), its the lowest cold weight you want to go for though, it will give better cold start protection over a 10w, well not better, make life easier for the engine with less strain

Very sluggish in this weather though
The 5w40 is more than enough tbh though in summer the 15w50 is good but you dont really need it.

Try driving tonight you will really notice how thick a 15w is in winter
I can also tell you that when I ran a 15w50 in winter, you can tell the difference, it makes the car feel sluggish for a little while, try running a 5w40 fully synth, much better in winter
