non-turbo wave
I was wondering if the impreza drivers here give the scooby wave to non-turbo owners?
My brother-in-law is very particular about who he gives the wave to. No to non-turbos and definitely no to Foresters.
Personally i think the wave is an acknowledgement that the other person knows about cars and has bought a real drivers car. On that basis the non-turbos get no love but a forester sti can get a wave.
any thoughts?

Is there a 'special wave'? If not I propose we do the 'secret signal'.

I generally give a wave when I see something I have in common with i.e. another Hawkeye or another impreza Sport of any MY. I almost always get a response from other Hawkeye drivers but rarely get one from a non turbo classic, bug or blob.

I wave to any car that i feel has had a valid and tastefull ammount of effort put into it, be it subaru, Nissan, VW, etc.
Usually they reciprocate.

I`ve got an 05 wrx wagon, and I wave at all Imprezas (even non turbo !) except post 07, as I never get a wave back. Classics tend not to initiate a wave but will nearly always wave back.
I`ve also got a newish Legacy wagon, and whilst I often forget which car I am in and wave at Imprezas, they generally miss it or stare in amazement/blankly. Other newish Legacys never wave back, whichever car I am in, but older, enthusiast owned Legacys do. I also drive a Mitsubishi 3.5t canter, and often find myself waving at scoobies. Passengers in all my vehicles also look at me with that strange amazed/blank look. Confused

I wave to anyone that waves at me or gives me the thumbs up for my car but like the other day driving towards the Harlow area for a wedding engagement, i was in a 50mph zone & had some large Merc on my tail (right on my bumper) i was ticked off at this as i was not going to get points on my licence for no1 - i would have made way for this foolish persons but it was a dual carrage way & the person in the slower lane was doing the maximum 50mph too! so we was like roadhogging them.. well.. about a few minutes later i made way so the foolish couple could pass then they are besides me & start giving me the 'go on lets race' - i got nothing to prove to them & know i could pin them against the wall with out even trying.. so i at them & stuck to the limit as i don't know the area this seemed to tick them off & the blonde in the passenger seat then gave me the 5 knuckle shuffle wave & speed off if i didn't have my misses in the car & she was offering to give me something like that 'ok' - it just shows that this sort of thing happens a lot driving these Turbo cars - if i was a sleeper i bet i wouldn't attract half these type of fools

I occasionally drive classic Aston Martins. I once saw another one coming the other way, which occasioned a slightly raised eyebrow in appreciation from both parties.
