Default Car won't start in the cold- Any Ideas?

Same thing last year - but only when cold.

Turn the key engine turns for about 1/2 second then check engine light flashes and the cars immobiliser (red light in the dash) comes on and basically shuts down any further attempts. take keys out, leave 10 mins everything has reset itself (all warning lights off) and you can try again.

If it's only slightly cold she'll start no problems this time - if it's colder (like last night) i was stuck in car for over an hour before it would start.Tried 5 or 6 time when everything had reset before it started.

Any ideas appreciated? Really quite annoying!

Think last year it was an immobiliser code that came up but not sure how to check
