Recently in the cold weather i have noticed my gearbox is making a strange noise when cold and in netural, depressing the clutch gets rid of the noise, also after driving for a few miles when every thing is up to temp the noise is gone...


Rounds like a ratttling bag of marbles type noise...

Anyone else got it??? is it common noise ??

if the goes when you depress the clutch it could just be the release bearing playing up a bit.

Aye it sounds like the thrust bearing....Not up to much these hatches, always seem to have some problems...

-6 here this morning, just been out to warm up the hatch and ive got exactly the same, sounds like clutch release bearing clattering when not under pressure. Fine once warmed up a little.

Sounds like a "normal" noise then, not to panic......

After just having a short engine replaced, i am am very paranoid about strange noises!!!!!

I have had it on my 06 STi since 25k miles. I did a full clutch swap this April (45k miles) when the engine came out and I am still getting the noise, so I presumed it was gearbox related.
It only appears when the temp is below about 5 deg and hasn't got any worse.

No noises on mine either too be honest

I had this on my RB320, seems to be a normal problem. i do know people that had the gearbox replaced under warrenty this sorted some but others got the same noise even with the replacement. I wouldnt worry about it.
