Mahle Pistons 2.5l Sti
My hawkeye's 2.5l STi lump has a cracked head gasket but thankfully its in at SAS Ayr under warranty getting repaired.
Since its an engine out job I am going to get some new pistons fitted to replace the Cadbury's cast ones.
I am trying to keeps costs down as I am having a new kitchen fitted, its Xmas and the car is also being treated to a new clutch.
Are the standard rods up to much and can I get away with fitting some Mahle pistons on their own?
Also who sells Mahle pistons and how much are they?

£493.50 inc vat.
We'd say easy 400 bhp on stock rods, so it depends on where you're off to!

Are the standard pistons 8.5 to 1 Comp ratio? Are these the ones you sell?
Subaru 2.5L Turbo WRX STI, EJ25/257
Bore - 99.5
Stroke - 79.0
C/R - 8.5
Pin Diameter - 23mm
Compression Height - 30.7mm
I was looking at upping power next year but I am unsure of which turbo to go for. I am not looking for massive bhp, just a healthy increase to over 400bhp, can you recommend any? MD321?

Was your car standard when your head gasget went, or has it been re maped?
What year is yours 57? and milage as I am trying to find out whether the problems are associated with modified cars or a certain milage?
Thanks

We absolutely love the SC46, having recently fitted one very successfully to an RB320. The result was a stack more power with no losses anywhere.

The SC46 being Scoobyclinics turbo?
I would really like to stretch to rods aswell but with a new kitchen, clutch and Xmas here I am not wanting to drain my resources too much.
Are there any rods cheaper than £376?

There are always slightly cheaper options, if you'd like some, just send over a PM and we'll see what can be done.

Lying around Carlisle somewhere are Mahle pistons, Manley rods, bearings, studs, gaskets and some other bits and pieces from Paul Finch. I see from his website he can now increase the bowl size for 2.0 litre heads onto 2.5 blocks......the last time we talked about this he was experimenting. I must get back in touch
