Chaps - last night's local paper (West Midlands) said 4 Imprezas were stolen from owner's driveways last week, and that thieves are targetting cars ouside people's houses.

High performance Audi's BMWs and Imprezas are top of the car thief shopping list.

Police advised to keep your cars keys with you at all times (especially if you go out for the evening) - but if threatened obviously don't risk life and limb.

Many cars and houses are 'cased' before a theft occurs.

I know this has been posted before but I think it is good to keep reminding ourselves of the risks.

Richard.

Question

Richard,

did they say how to tell if your house was being "cased"?

E-mail me if the info is sensitive!

Cheers,

mb

p.s. FOUR Imprezas in one week - heck there can't be many left around here!

What gives this scum the right to **** with our motors, weather it be vandalised or stolen, its the one thing you work hard for to keep on the road track etc . Its a good thing we all can share our problems.

On this subject:

red van pulls up outside my house on Monday night, dodgy looking geezer looks at the car for a while....me stood at the window, then looks at me for a while turns and drives off.
After reading this thread it make me wonder.

I worry because I'm often away through the week leaving the wife/kids on their own.

Anyway mines a 95 model thought this would be too old....mind you it does have those 17" GOLD wheels you all love soo much

Boomer,

I am not sure how a house is 'cased' I think that thieves watch a house from a vehicle fpor a couple of days to see who comes and goes.

I do not want to worry owners, buit I think you just need to be more careful at the moment.

If I think someone is following me or watching the house, I make a note of the car/number plate on a dictating machine which is kept in my car.

One starts to wonder if it is worth the hassle of having a nice car!

here we go again it seems.

But how safe / unsafe are other areas. This just doesnt happen in the midlands, but it may be a very nasty hotspot judging by other posts.

Any other reports of 'casing' or 'hotspots'.
