Default Sti 5 is no more (probably)

hi all

Not so very long ago I picked up my freshly imported low mileage sti 5 wagon from sva in dover - they fitted Defis, hks hi power, 100cell sports cat, hks panel filter, ngk pfr 7bs and a walboro fuel pump. they under sealed it fitted a toad cat one alarm, did the timing belts an fitted an Api oil pump.........
It already had tein coilovers with adjustable top mounts an a set of super sticky bridgeston Re 01Rs.

Then Dr Andy Forrest mapped her on V power and I was in scooby heaven

fast forward to two weeks ago on a wet roundabout in east kilbride add a dash of diesel a high kerb and some metal railings..............
you get the picture.

Long story short phoned insurance two weeks ago an car only uplifted yesturday but thats another story.

The roof is kinked so have been told by the recovery agents that got me home and the agents that uplifted it that its a goner

Only plus point out of this is im on the market for a new scooby.
Thinking about a Uk bug eye WRX wagon.

For all the mods that i had on the Sti I think I used it to its true potential twice.......... spent its short life in scotland on the school run or going to work, never had time to go an play.

Feel really crap an insurance seem to be dragging their heels for some reason which aint helping, relying on my folks letting me borrow their car.

If and when I get another scoob ive a nice low mileage Vf34 sitting in my garage, a used green panel filter, an ive got my eye on an exhaust..........

A plan is forming Ill be back

Tough luck that mate nice car too, had the same thing happen to me 2 weeks after bob Rawle mapped my 1999 uk wagon, had a blowout on passenger rear tyre, and wrote it off.
2 weeks later I was the proud owner of a 2000 uk wagon wagon which was a much nicer car with more history & extras than my 99 car. Also made more bhp/ torque than my 99 dispite identical mods. Incidentally it took the insurance 6 weeks from claim to payout.

Buy it back and strip it you`ll be able to put all the goodies on the new car, an sell on/strip it and get a LOT more money than a straight insurance claim.

need to clarify that with the insurance. The quote was based on the car with them all fitted. Its been taken to a place called Copart about fifty miles from here and from what I can see its an on line scrappies. Makes me think insurance have already made their minds up.

The insurance can't just take your car off you, you still own it

You haven't given the V5 to the insurance have you? Hold on to it until they make you an acceptable offer and put it in writing that they are not to dispose of the car until you have agreed a sum. Once they have disposed of it they will offer you bugger all and you have lost your chance to have an independent valuation done.

When my STI 5 was written off back in 2004 (stolen and engine blown) this made £2K difference to the eventual pay-out.
