Default impreza decisions

right guy,s here goes i,am after a newage wrx with 5 speed box as the key to my goal is weight saving; i have the following parts for this build 2.5 forged block, md321t. also buying the scoobyclinic helical cut gearset, is there anything else that could save weight on this project ie interior. etc.

i,am going for brakes suspension and some whiteline goodies have any off you got an idea on light weight items i may need also were to find them.

also is the bugeye lighter than the blobeye

this will be a long project but will be worth it

pretty sure a standard 5 speed newage box won't take the horsepower you proposed build spec will come up to, I should think you'll be needing a stronger box maybe PPG or the like

are you stripping it out?? or keeping as much comfort as poss?? a classic would make a lighter car (im bias). do you have your heart set on a newage??

aircon can go rad pump ect quite surprising how even just the pump is heavy, sound proofing, smaller battery.

Hmmmm, if the "key to your goal is weight saving", the best base car to start with would be a classic. What are you trying to do here? Make a competition car, or just something that is light for the sake of being light, or?

also is the bugeye lighter than the blobeye
Bugeye is, if I recall right, a fraction heavier spec for spec very little to choose between them. As above, if you want low weight to the exclusion of everything else you'll be wanting to start from a classic shell, they're over 100kg lighter than a newage.

If you want a Newage then try and find a Bug Spec C.... Subaru threw out most things including the front subframe to try and compete with the Evo of the day LOL

I would also be looking at a bug spec c for your needs, what you dont seem to understand is that all the bits you need are already there, what you will save on a bug wrx will not benefit you one bit as your going to have to put heavy bits back on for upgrades (and the 5 speed box even with a gearset isnt as strong as the 6 speed box, especially one with an oil cooler fitted )
What you save from the 5 speed gearset, clutch, brakes etc will go nicely towards a bug spec c
