IIRC the rules/law surrounding cash purchase are anything up to £9000 and your ok.
Suggest you google " cash purchase max value* or something like that, i'm sure you'll come up with the right answer

I thought it was 10k, but if you have cash can pay 10k one day then the rest the following day. I found it easier to pay on switch card though, nothing worse than watching your hard earned being handed over. A simple transaction and pin code don't feel as bad.

Maximum of £11k in total before we have to notify authorities of potential money laundering. but some dealers won't accept that much.

And no, you can't pay more than that by splitting it into more than one payment, it is £11k total !

Debit card is the way we take balances now, we require 10 days to clear building society cheques and have to phone the issuing branch if you want to pay by bankers draft.

Done all my deals with a bankers draft or money transfer. Save running the risk of getting clobberd by some hoodies aswell.

Really depends on the garage. Land Rover accepted a 16K deposit in cash without question a couple of years ago and I think the rules were the same then.

16k cash!!??!! what the hell do you do for a living?

I wasn't aware you couldn't pay more than a certain amount in cash. Why are the rules in place?

Remember those idiots who flew a plane into a building? It all started tightening up after that, so you can blame them in my eyes. Before that it was all nice and easy, no money launder laws to fall foul off (especially if you arent money laundering, it can be really irritating!).

Opening a bank account seems nigh on impossible now, for almost exactly the same reasons.

The actions of a few spoil it for the majority, if you ask me.
