Default New Scooby Owner

Firstly, hello to all! Here you have a long time reader, first time posting. Have always loved Scoobs, and recently bought my first one, is a newage Impreza STi (2005) and have to say I'm loving it!

The only concern now is that it's overdue a cambelt change. Main dealership are quoting £850+ to get this work done, which seems a bit steep to me. Does anyone know / can recommend any garages / specialists in the Southampton area who can provide a reasonable quote for this work?

Thanks in advance

Cambelts are anything from £35-£50 depending on where you are buying. £800 bucks sounds a bit tooooo much. How long do they intend taking to fit it? a week? Id go somewhere else mate. <any> local garage will be able to fit it for you, there's even a youtube video online for doing it. Give scoobyclinic in Chesterfield a ring, I know its a bit far, but it aint going to cost you that mate and you'll know its been done right.

Yea thought it was bit steep. I assume the tensioner and pump are normally done as part of this work, as I've heard its more likely to be tensioner than belt that actually goes?

Yep, the tensioner and pump are changed at this point too as a matter of course. On the bright side, it is the most 'painful' service and not done too often

Welcome to SN mate

The guys who owned the car before me swore by Triton Motorsports down near Bournemouth International Airport. Worth a try

Yes I've just had my cambelt done. And also replaced the idlers. Was given a qoute of 300 from dealer but I brought them from Graham Goode Racing for half the price lol
