Sorry to post this here but I thought it would get a quicker response.

Would the wheels from a MY01 fit straight on to a MY97
with regards to offset and rubber ?

Cheers

Paul

Well - a slightly more informed response other than quickly answering your question - you impatient person you

Yes they will fit studwise but the rubber is a different profile (45) to that required by pre MY01 17" wheels (40). This means that your gearing & speedo is adversely affected. I'm also not entirely sure the offset is the same but I can't comment for sure.

Cheers PTMW,

All that aside (I can handle a little discrepancy in the speedo) the main thing I need to know is will they rub and will it effect the handling ?

I believe in a majority of cases the rubber will rub he arches at the back. Some do some don't...

Markus has a set on his '94(?) Wagon. See if you can find a post by him (hint: any with Movits in the title ) and e-mail him on the address in his profile. Although he now has them on spacers so they clear the Movit calipers, he previously had them as standard. Don't know what he did about tyres though.

Thumbs up

I'd MY01 alloys on my MY98 wagon for the past two months and am happy to report absolutely no problems at all, no rubbing or scuffing. IMHO the newer wheels really suit the older body
