Default 2.0 vs 2.5 STI Engine

Can someone shed some light for me as i'm struggling to find the information on here.

Basically I have a bugeye STI type UK Prodrive and the engine is now out due to valve failure (unsure why this is though as the bottom end is like new), but I have been tempted with a STI 2.5 long engine with AVCS that has only covered 36k.

What is the significant benifts to be had other than the extra torque, and also what issues might i be faced with by choosing the 2.5?

Thanks,
Rob

Your road tax might go up a bit.

1. Your clutch may not hold all the extra torque, depending on age and condition.
2. The 2.5 STI motor MAY have dual AVCS depending on year of manufacture.
3. It may end up far too quick for you to manage...

1 - Clutch will be supplied with transaplant as mine is current already at the top

2 - Not sure of year, will find out soon. Its currently in a Forrester if that helps .

3 - Not been in a car that has out handled me yet, bar my RS T when i was just a nipper .

If i assume rightly the 2.5 will rev to 8''000, but is useless past this without supporting mods? I think the current Turbo is a VF37?!?

This has been noted , but I dont think it makes much difference in the grand scales of things. I thinks its only around £40 difference.

I wouldn't expect a 2.5 to like more than 7000 rpm normally...
