Impreza has Laddish Yobbo Image......

The Yorkshire Post has never been known for its accuracy of reporting, so I am not at all surprised that they are telling me I have been driving an oil burner for the last few weeks.
I have responded to Mr Manby in a manner befitting an over 40 laddish yobbo.

Oh well, my reg number must be right after all !

PS I'm sure most people realise that most motoring reviews in local and regional rags are produced from press releases, which is why they are usually so dull. The problems start when morons try to rehash the material without doing any research. That might well be the case here.

Scoob not snob,
I certainly look down on some 'lads', but they are usually ones like the Mondeo driver I saw last week who had a Scoob scoop on his bonet, together with FOUR air vents, in THREE different shapes.
Many of us are either more mature (older) or enthusiast, or quite often both, and have subsequently got past the Max Power/Custom car phase. Personally, the people I tend to look upon with a degree of amusement are those who buy a POS, put thousands of pounds of body kit and ICE onto a car, and think it's anything more than a POS with a good stereo. The ones I admire, are the ones who buy a POS and put the money into the mechanics.

It sounds like this idiot did the test from his office chair. His severe lack of knowledge (215bhp on the WRX is another) is a tad worrying and if I were his boss Id be having words.

I'd go along with that. The Impreza owners image has changed from the 90's when Subaru was an 'untrendy' make, but was bought by someone who understood what a good value performance car was.
Now the Impreza is a very common sight and can be picked up very cheaply, putting into the availability bracket of the XR2, XR3i, RS Turbo, AstraGTE brigade, who are testoronally imbalanced dick-heads who drive badly and give the Impreza a bad name.
Sadly you've still got the honest, intelligent person (99% of Scoobynet) who drive them in a careful considerate manner - who quite rightly take offence at this threads title. You lot ARE the people who should be driving the Impreza, but you've now got to share the roads with a vast bunch of dick-heads and boyracers who can afford them too.
I sold mine last year for this very reason. The mere site of an Impreza on the road to some people is like a red rag to a bull. I personally got fed up with the image my car had evolved into.

Not my opinion, but Frederic Manby Motoring correspondent of the Yorkshire Post.
Read his article following a test drive of the new STI UK.
I scanned the paper and posted it here :
http://pictures-scoobynet.tripod.com
Check it out for yourselves. Comments invited, in fact why not give Mr Manby your opinion at frederic.manby@ypn.co.uk, I have.
Seeing as I believe the majority of us on here either own their own business or or young professionals, we are hardly "laddish yobbo's". See his other petty critisisms at the site above.

I've found it quite the opposite. Most scooby owners love to look down their nose at 'lads' and their cars in a really inbred and snobbish way
They see themselves as something 'special'
