am i right in thinking then the 2011 Hatch has also spec C etc.

the current 60 play STI of which im looking at is the old model

as hes quoted me 28k with upgrade kit on and 33k for the booted 2011 model

A Genuine 2011 Hatch may come with the same spec c suspension as the Saloon, but a 60 registered 2010 Hatch will have prodrive springs hitched to standard STI suspension.

The 60 regged 2010 hatch was imported before the Yen was so strong, hence the 28k pricetag. The 2011 car costs 31k just to get it into the country and on the forecourt. (according to my local importer)

Yeah ive just spoke to another dealer and he confrims the STI 2010 can still be bought for 26k and that includes the prodrive updates to 330.

As for the 2011 he still says 33k

Ive asked for a compaible quote see whats what. I just cant see a 7k hike for a 2011 STI warrents it, the seats and steering wheel are a wee bit diff but everything ellse on the hatch that is looks the same.

so my options are

Booted 2011
2010 STI 330 pack

Just noticed my insurance goes up 400 quid from a wrx-s to an sti :/

That's what I thought as well regarding the Spec C suspension but in the Subaru UK website it isn't any different to the hatchback's one

Based on what's starting to come out of Fuji Heavy Industries (Subaru's parent) there will be some all new spangly engines next year. First genuine new engines since 1989 apparently (Don't know what that makes the EJ257). Going into the USDM Forester first from what I read. They've built a whole new factory to produce them. If the specs on the 2.0lt are to be believed then the 2.5 should be an absolute knockout but I'm just guessing.
