Recommended tyres for fast road / occasional track use
Hi everyone,
I have a Hawkeye STI, which I use mainly at weekends.
Currently has Falken FK452s all round on 18"s but I will need to replace these soon.
They've been fine but next year I plan to track the car for the first time, every other month and also take my lad to the NBR in the Spring.
If it makes any difference to choice, the car has been remapped by Bob Rawle to 380 / 410 (with supporting mods) plus, in readiness for next year, I've recently fitted Tein monoflex coilovers, Whiteline arbs, anti-lift kit etc plus had a full geo set up. Also has AP Racing 355 6 pots at the front. So handling is sorted.
Am therefore looking for a tyre which suits both fast road and track use, (I won't be running two sets of wheels, at least not yet), performs well in the wet and will last a while. Is there such a thing that ticks all boxes? At the end of the day I want the best value for money over the life of the tyre, even if the upfront costs are greater.
Obviously I've spent a fair amount getting things sorted on the car so I don't want to spoil it all by choosing some budget rubber but bearing in mind my usage, what would you recommend?
Cheers,
Steve

Useage has nothing to do with it, you either have crap tyres on or you dont
Top of my list would be Michelin PS3's, then you can add the Sessanta's, some will say goodyear GSD3's, not over keen on those myself, but the latest continental sports are meant to be very good also
