Default knock sensor on wrx classic?

right, im not having any luck with this car. lol

i was on my way to see someone about my boost issue, but after 5 minutes of driving the CEL came on.
i got to his house and we checked the code and its a knock sensor (22)
looked at the dipstick and somehow there was no oil (i had topped it up about 2 weeks ago) so filled that up again and all was good. driving home and the light came on again so i pulled over to reset the ecu but it still appeared.

after driving for another 5 minutes, the light went off and hasnt com back on after another 20 miles of carefull driving.

i had a search but this seems to be very car dependant so any ideas what is going/has happened?
long shot i know...

thanks
rich

lol, my main concern is that its a bit odd that the light came on when there was no oil in it and its done some real damage but i will replace the knock sensor just incase..

right, i started the car and the light wasnt on.
i drove for about 5 minutes and nothing, then the light camer back on whilst it was jus ticking over outside my house.
every time i blipped the throttle, it would go off and it did this loads of times. is this a definate knock sensor failure??
thanks
