Default Type R?

Could someone tell me what a nonSTI Type R is?, ive searched the net and all i can find is STI Type R.

I dont know too much about scoobys and looking to buy my 1st one, and ive been told of a reputable company they have this model for sale.

All he said said was its a rare model Non STI 2d in blue.

Appologies if ur fed up with similar questions.

Its a WRX type R if its not an STI, the type R just means Retna which was the code for the 2 door shell.
It wont be worth as much as an STI type R, it should have ABS though and the brakes will really suck unless someone upgraded them to 4 pots.

As far as I know they never made one, unless someone has modded a 4 door as one.

It will be of a higher specification than a WRX, it is a type R after all engine will be 280ps, wont quite have as much torque as the STI (about 7 or 8lbs different), will be a limited edition (1000 production run), is a 2 door but if your going to push the boat out, go for the STI type R.

I wish i could stretch my budget that far . Impreza models are almost as confusing as porche models .

So the type RA and type R and not linked at all?, its just that from what i read somewhere type r is similar to a RA in the way its got no luxuries.

So this car for sale is just 2 dr upgraded wrx (but not to sti spec) with no luxuries, no upgraded brakes etc.

No, the Type R is for the shell name, its not "lightweight" though the RA (Race altered) isnt much lighter than most other models (about 30kg).
The type R doesnt have the trick front diff the RA has, it has the DCCD though and retains the sound proofing etc, so 2 different models tbh.

Any link to the car ?

As Tonyburns says the Type R refers to the "Retna" 2 door bodyshell, googling might throw up the 1.5 litre donor car LOL

Subaru have a habit of running a limited edition 2 door WRX / STi if they won something, usually called a V-Limited (the V=Victory), or if they got bored they would release a WRX / STi 2 door for the hell of it (usually a "Limited")......back in the good old days they sold out a limited run of cars in a a matter of days / hours

Hi Shaun, unfortunately all I know about it is what I wrote in the original post, he just mentioned it was for sale and I haven’t had a reply since, and its been bugging me what it is. It’s over my budget but I really like the look of the 2 door shells so I am tempted depending on what it is exactly.

So far it’s looking like my 1st Scooby is going to be this rare mysterious model lol, or a V4 STI I seen on eBay.

A WRX Type R will be lacking the DCCD, which maybe good/bad depending on what you want. As Tony has already said it will have ABS which the STI Type R doesn't have. Performance wise, there will not be a massive difference between the WRX or STI (both Type R's) as the power is about the same.

Tony - I thought that some of the later Limited or V Limited cars had a front LSD as per the RA? Sure you know best thought lol
