Oil Consumption
What does your car go through ?
Subaru says 1 ltr per 1000 miles is normal.
My car has never used any until now, in the last few months Ive noticed its using the stuff.
Just checked the car this morning and it needed 3/4 ltr to bring it back to full.
The car doesnt smoke, so no oil use there.
Took the front mount pipes off, clean there.
Checked under the car, cant see any leaks.
The only problem Ive had is when the front mount oil cooler fitment cracked and I replaced it.
My oil breathers vent to air aswell.
Ive only had to empty my oil catch can once since its been fitted, must be around a year now since fitted.
So are your cars using the stuff.
I reckon Ive used 3/4 ltr in 5 weeks and Ive only done around 5000 miles in one year.
Thats mostly been short trips, 3 miles here and there at a time.

mine has always used oil, about a litre every 1000 although i do empty some out of the catch can. I assume you have a 2.5? I did have an rb5 but that didnt use much at all.

this thread has been done over and over, always with the same outcome, some do use a lot (within the normal useage- a case of subaru covering their ****), others use hardly any. i am one of the unlucky ones using about 0.5L every 700 - 800 miles

my enginetuner built 2.1 stroker doesnt use any oil at all, even when i have thrashed the living daylights out of it.which i must say is quite a difference from an engine i had built by another so called engine builder which used 1 litre every 100miles.

Well found my where my oil has going missing.
The Goodridge 90 DEGREE connector to oil filter sandwich plate has cracked.
It must of been dripping under load, today woke up to a pool under the car.
The thing had cracked wide open, now thats the 2nd Goodridge connector fail in 3 months.
One at the sandwich plate and the other at the oil cooler, just ckecked the rest and they have hair line cracks on them.
I thought these things are meant to last, thats all four connectors fail in the space of 3 years.

Not too impressed with these HKS oil cooler kits, if they fail in that time frame.
