Shell unleaded vs Vpower vs fuel save test
Recently Ive been covering larger than normal miles so thought I would see how the fuels compared to each other regarding effeciency/mpg.
Each fuel was used over 1000 miles of motorway driving with the last 350 miles measured. The route and average speed were pretty much identical.
I first tried the regular shell 95 fuel, then the V power, by this time Fuel saver had been released so thought I would try this as well.
The results
Shell regular 95 - 34.5mpg
Shell V power 99 - 35mpg
Shell fuel saver 95 - 35mpg
I know that this was done in my 160bhp, naturally aspirated 2.0ltr so wouldn't be the same for the majority of you with turbo cars mapped to 98/99 fuel but thought it would be an interesting read non the less.

i've always found, v-power to have a little better responce.
but normal super seems to give them exstra couple of miles
but the car was mapped on v-power. 95ron, dont use it
being a turbo, and mapped on v

I had no way of testing power. I never feel any difference between any of the shell fuels but I wouldnt expect to, despite shells claim.

i do, but not that much.
but do get the slightly more miles from super.
its slightly cheaper too.
if im going long distence, i use super all the time.
another issue, its sometimes hard to find a shell station.
they tested a standard car, and it only made a couple of bhp more.
where as a turbo made im sure it was 5bhp more. theres nothing in it is there

When I bought my Scoob I was based in Germany so I was using Shell's 100 octane V Power, it loved that stuff but when I came back and started using Optimax it was like a completely different fuel and never performed well at all! I got better miles off the Bosch stuff too!!
When I got back to the UK I changed to using Tesco 99 and been using it ever since, absolutely flies on the stuff better miles and performance! I was getting around 300 of the Tesco and 270 ish off Shell's effort! That was when my car was standard
