Just seen this:
http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2010/09...new-boxer.html
Subaru are claiming this is their biggest re-work of the flat four since 1989. If this is true then the part that piques my interest is the 90mm stroke as standard and that's just for the 2.0l. No more getting surprised by diesels at lights.
Gang rape some Evos anyone?....

Well spotted, didn't notice that.
Some info on the 2.5 which debuts in the 2011 Forester, in short:
Lighter
Higher torque
Earlier torque
Slightly more CCs

Just found this:
http://www.autoevolution.com/news/ne...led-24681.html.
Redesigned ports
Friction loss reduced by 30%
The news just keeps getting better and better!
So what do people think? Do we dare to hope that Subaru intend to restore their "You know you won't even try it with me" reputation from the 80s and 90s? Have they finally skipped ahead and done a big to everything with more than two wheels? Will we stop wondering whether that 335D, Astra VXR etc, will take us and go back to wondering whether that Ferrari, Lambo or 911 is going to be dumb enough to try and beat us off of the lights (with nothing more than a remap)?
For the first time since the classic disappeared from production - I'm optimistic...
