Unless your over 60 i wouldnt worry about little power below 2700rpm, remember you have another 4000rpm to go.

Hi there every turbo create "turbo lag",if for you is 2700rpm too laggy, you are never drive scooby with TD05-20G or SC-46,MD-series.
And your question is there quicker spooling turbo which give you same power,i don't think so...

Possibly the vf-34 will be more responsive, but 340 would be it's limit.
Is your bolb wrx or sti buddy??

Thats not a bad response range from a wrx to be honest buddy.
You might be able to drop it by 200 rpm with a hybrid type turbo (vf34) but is all that money worth the result??
He was probably asking you where your redline is to ensure he sets the car up correctly for your driving style

If you are gunning it and changing gear at 6k + then you are never gonna drop below 2700rpm. Save youself some cash and drop a gear

It may do, but straining it in a low gear will also kill it, the price of modifying your car to such a stage.

340/338 is always going to run the risk of your gearbox imploding regardless. I personally would be keeping one eye on a 6 speed anyway
