The ideal replacment/upgrade for the MY93 is;
6K from MY95/96 STi 280bhp
7K from MY95/96 RA 275bhp
Z4 from MY95/96 WRX 256bhp

All plug and play afaik

What number is on the STi ECU???

Not sure as I haven't got it yet! Will it be worth it in most cases?

Yes, you should be able to get £40 for any old ECU, if it is one of the 3 i mentioned earlier it could be worth double. As to the question of suitability, with out the model/part No. i cannot confirm either way. Can you not call your mate and ask him?

The rev limit will be wrong as the Sti goes to 8k I think. If you try to do that on a wrx, it will end in tears. There is an easy way to avoid it of course.

So 'should' be 6K

As stated above, your redline will be higher 7500rpm, and you do not want to be revving that high, just be aware

You have a good deal at £40 if it does turn out to be 6K What ECU are you running at the moment??

Yeah, standard box for your MY, 237bhp. You will feel a huge difference if the other is a 6K

You can use the MY95/96 saloon ecu on your saloon pushing your 237bhp on super unleaded (dont run unleaded not good for the engine) to 257bhp (I take it you do have a saloon and not a wagon, it will change if you do have a wagon) but you cant use the STI ecu, there are too many differences (injector size, turbo etc) and it will run like a bag of nails and probably pop its clogs on you

B13bat, you have your ps and bhp incorrect 276bhp (MY97 version 3 sti, phase 1.5 engine), 250ps for the original STI, 275ps (271bhp) for the version 2 sti, none were 280ps until the version 3 STI came out

Tony
