Default Help with SORN please.

Due to not been able to insure my car i had to declare it SORN. Now i am selling her it turns out it is a rightpain in the **** to get her off Sorn. Has anyone here taken their car off SORN.

As i see it now, to get her off SORN i need to buy road tax, to buy road tax i need a MOT and insurance. I cant drive to the MOT station to get my MOT as i have no road tax and because i am using my no claims bonuses towards my other Scooby i have no insurance. With No claims bonuses to my name no insurance company will insure me for my "high performance sports car"...........IT'S A F**KING WAGON.

I have tried a few one day insurance places but they do not offer me insurance on an import. Not having insurance is the reason i had to put her SORN but now i need insurance to sell her....i cant win with this can i??

Anyone got some advise for me please

Bit of a rant, sorry.

sell it as it is, as soon as the car is sold the new owner can do he/she likes with it, and as soon as the car is bought by someone else they have to apply for the sorn themselves, or put it on the road.

You can drive to the MOT place without tax or MOT .. just not without insurance ..

Use one of those day insurance jobbies to get the MOT done and then leave the tax up to the buyer !

Pimmo is right- you can drive to the MOT station and back without an MOT and without Tax legally.

If you have got a friend/partner/parent with 3rd party cover on other vehicles you could get them to drive it to and from the testing station, get the MOT and then leave the tax to the prospective buyer (or offer to pay the tax but explain your position as to why you are selling and so can't get the tax on it yourself)

But you cant do that either as no car is allowed on the road uninsured. Doesn't matter if the person driving it has 3rd party cover as the car itself has no insurance.

They've not been watching Police Interceptors then

Punters on there have tried that one and the cars have still been seized as they set off the ANPR cameras! Happened in one of the recent episodes again IIRC.

Reckon you were lucky.

How well do you know/get on with the MOT station? It may be worth asking them to collect the car and return it to you after test. I'm sure i've seen this service offered in garages

Haha, maybe I was actually!! Considering the reason we got stopped was that there was no plates on the car!! Don't actually think they checked the car....just that I was insured.....eek....
