If you have fitted the chip the correct way around and cut the correct resistor, then option 6 above is the way to go.

cut J1 not L1
put the chip in the coorect way round.
check the solders on the chip holder are good. there should be continuity between the top and bottom on all pins. (doubled sided board)

Cut the J1 and L1, I understand.
chip holder and the chip, are placed with the notch on the same side that indicates the ECU plate .
