As you have not replied to my private message I can only hope you will respond here.
You sold me a 'VGC' VF22 turbocharger (thread here: https://www.scoobynet.com/private-fo...wagon-jdm.html). You assured me that it was fine.
However prior to be installing it, I have had the turbo checked over by CR Turbos who have stated the core is knackered and a new one would be £900.
Please let me know how you intend to resolve this.
Regards

Ive had stuff from andy before and its been spot on. As for cr telling you its £900 to repair this turbo, thats sh1te, as you can buy a new one for less than that. Andy f fully recond my td05-20g for under £300. Andyscoobm3 is a decent guy, and i would imagine he will reply when hes on.

As for CR Turbos, I think they know what they're talking about. You can't repair the VF22 core (practically), so it's a complete replacement.

I sent a CR turbo's a Vf23 that I bought from a member on here, all the blades except one was damaged, they tested it first, and replaced the compressor wheel, I sent them my TD04 as an exchange, came to about £80 plus VAT, the turbo is still on my car

Andy more than likely has not picked up your PM. Trying dropping Shawy1976(Neil) a pm who I am sure can get hold of Andy for you.

you can still read PM`s via the registered email address (as pm`s get sent to it just like notifications of added posts to subscribed threads and just log out of the site but still receive the PM`s via email so it appears you have not been online since....loggin out, theres no areas you cannot access when logged out.(unless you try members area, but not many of those are there !)

Hi there
We removed this turbo and there was no sign of any shaft play or broken blades etc, I PERSONALLY drove the car (that it was broke from) for around for 3 months prior to this car being broken and there was no smoke and it pulled no problem. Cant see were the problem has occured from.....

Thanks for your reply (whoever you may be?), however upon receiving the turbocharger it did have axial play on the shaft and oil seeping through the turbine wheel, which is why I sent it off to be checked.
I don't expect everyone to be experts in checking turbochargers prior to sale but ignoring a query is just plain rude. I'm not that desperate for £150 so i'm not going to start pulling my hair out over it.

Another way to look at this...
It is normal to have axial shaft play, it is a ball bearing turbo so it NEEDS to have axial shaft play when cold, when the turbine and shaft heats up it grows and the clearance will dissappear. I'm not sure on the IHI units, but the Garrett turbos have a max axial float of 0.12mm which doesn't sound like much, but feels like a lot as the shaft will clunk back and forth if you make it.
The oil leaking past the turbine is also normal as the seal is really very simple, and without some exhaust pressure and the turbo sitting in it's normal installed position, oil WILL leak out the core.
I suspect that the turbo was perfectly usable even if it wasn't in "as new" condition, but if there is ANY doubt, a turbo company can't put their name against something that "might" fail. And a cynical view is that they were angling for a sale.

I look at it from the perspective that professionals have checked it and having a long relationship with the turbo house they are not just trying to make a sale. I also look at it from the perspective that the buyer ignored my communication.
It's easy to fluff up to suit other perspectives, but all that matters to me is i've been sold something not as described from what appears to be an unreliable seller.
I've written it off now, i'm not that desperate for the money.
