Default Oil Flushing

I'm about to get my STI V5 Serviced next week. Its a full service so air filter, oil. and stuff like that. I've evan got myself a magnectic drain plug.

Previously by looking at my invoices they have used a engine flush. But have become recently aware its a no no. I've had no trouble watsoever so far.

So can you guys tell me why I shouldn't have it done. I've rang garage up to tell them not to bother with the flush?

some say it washes the big ends etc, some say its fine.

Some say replace oil with cheap stuff then 100 miles later replace with the decent stuff,same as an enine flush treatment

some say........

depends on the oil change intervals really, i had an old primera GT which didnt have new oild for 30k, that NEEDED an engine flush

Could explain my the term washing the big end. Does it strip the bearings of oil so when you start up the car it causes problems.

I am on just over 70k and don't want to damage the engine. I've had it flushed in the past, and not seemed to have any trouble.

i have been a mechanic for 15 years now and a rule of thumb is dont use any flush agents in turbo cars as the flush is designed to wash away carbon build ups this can and can not be good as there will be small carbon build ups around turbo bearings and if washed away this can cause oil smoking also the same can happen to piston rings the carbon build up can help to seal wear in an engine so in some cases getting it clean is not always best.

that said if an engine is flushed regular from new it can help but my personal choice is not to just use good oil and change it regular i do mine every 3000 miles no more as i do a lot of stop start town driving i hope that lot makes sense

as above, just replace with good quality oil every 3k.
